Welcome to the bookshop!

Say hello to the future.

Okay, maybe it isn’t earth-shattering, but I believe this is a new thing in the craft world- or at least something not commonly done. I introduce…..miniature bookbinding.

Completely hand-bound miniature book charms. Fully customizable. You can write on the pages and tear them out (though this may not be advised; the book will get worn and/or break). As for the measurements? They come in two sizes. Mini: about 1 3/4″ by 1 1/2″ by whatever the thickness is, usually 1/8″ to 3/8″. Super mini: 1″ by 3/4″ by the average thickness of 3/16″. That’s crazy small.

The best part? They’re cheap. And shipping is FREE.

Yep, free. (In the U.S. on orders over $11. Hey, I’ve got to make a profit!) And given how easy these are for me to make, you’re basically only paying for shipping.

I make these much like how I bind larger notebooks. You know, making the cover, gluing the text block, cutting endpapers…everything except the sewing, and the fact that I print the covers. I even use headbands (the decorative thread on each end of the spine) on the minis. BUT GIVEN THE SIZE, THEY’RE EASY TO MASS-PRODUCE. I can make a mini in about 20 minutes, tops. Plus I don’t use many materials- recycled cardboard (think cereal boxes), printer paper, cardstock, twine, and a LOT of adhesive. But to put it into perspective, one sheet of printer paper makes about 2.5 mini text blocks and at least 7 super minis, depending on the thickness. A little goes a long way with miniatures.

Sounds pretty realistic, right? A perfectly bound miniature book. I even try to adjust the thickness of the books according to how thick the larger versions are. For instance, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is going to be considerably thinner than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now, if only I could figure out how to print the actual text in miniature….

*Free shipping applies to US only.

So what do you do with them?

Good question. Who needs a miniature book? (besides every book lover out there) Well, I’m here to say that there are SO MANY OPTIONS. SO MANY. I’m talking mostly jewelry. In my shop, you can buy them as charms, charms with clasps (to clasp onto necklaces and other jewelry), magnets, pins, keychains, necklaces, earrings, and even bracelets in some cases. That’s 8 WAYS to use these books. But wouldn’t it be fun just to start a miniature library of your own? Just collect your favorite books in miniature…maybe even for a dollhouse. So many ideas! I provide box sets of series (with actual boxes that I design and make!) for this reason- for collectors, and gift-givers, of course. These truly are the perfect gift for the book lovers in your life.

Help! I don’t see the book I want in your shop!

Hey, that’s what custom orders are for! I have custom options for EVERYTHING. (Or as many things as I can think of.) You can get custom books in any size. You can get them in whatever form you want. Just find a cover for your book somewhere on the internet and send the link with your order. I’ll do the rest. Not sure which cover to use? We can discuss it on the Requests page. Just give me the title or a few options you’re looking at and I’ll find the one I think is best. Note: I prefer books with the inside flaps, if possible. Most hardcovers have this option, but if I want a certain cover, it may not always come with the inside flaps (ex. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy version currently in the shop). Just pick what you want.

I want to order a lot for a party/other event or I want to sell these in my shop!

Bulk options are available as well! They are in quantities of 20, 50, and 100. I will likely have to make these to order so order WELL in advance. I’m talking months. They may not take THAT long to make, but life can get in the way. As for wholesale- I’m thinking that if it’s in high enough demand, I could offer wholesale options in the same quantities as bulk (at discounted prices, of course). Until then, just send me a message privately and we can discuss it.

Wow, see how fast this turned into an FAQ page? Well, turns out there IS an actual FAQ on the About page. In fact, on the About page, you can learn more about me, how this idea began, how exactly I make the books, about returns/refunds/exchanges, and more about the books themselves. I’ve given you a lot of information here, enough to get started, but head on over to the About page or the Shop to learn even more!
